The variety of “Ashdan yak” was bred by 20 years’ systematic breeding. Its excellent characteristics are hornless, good meat production performance, strong adaptability, genetic stability and easy to feed and manage. In this work, the molecular mechanism of the yak horn development regulation was characterized, and the genetic variation sites of controlling horn traits were identified. This work could help to shorten the breeding cycle and improve the breeding efficiency.
